The SwimWild team dived into 2019 with a fabulous New Year’s Day dip at Loch Insh. It wasn’t quite as icy as last year but still an ‘invigorating’ way to start the year!
While lots of things have been going on behind the scenes at SwimWild over the last year, 2019 brings a new website and some exciting new adventures!
9th March 2019 – Scottish Winter Swimming Championships
SwimWild have teamed up with the International Winter Swimming Association to put on the first Scottish Winter Swimming Championships at Taymouth Marina, Loch Tay. There will be short individual races, team relays, a tough 450m endurance challenge, and of course a prize for the best hat! Entries will open shortly so stay tuned for more information.
27th July – 2nd August 2019 - Outer Hebrides and St Kilda Expedition
The Outer Hebrides - A Wild Swimmers Paradise! Come and join us for the trip of a lifetime as we explore the islands that make up the Northern Outer Hebrides. From Great and Little Bernera and the islands around Loch Roag to Scotland’s ultimate Island on the Edge, St Kilda, we will swim amongst some of Britain’s most spectacular landscapes, all whilst living on board the MV Cuma, a former scientific research vessel.
The weather will play a major part in the week’s itinerary and will largely dictate what happens each day. St Kilda is notoriously difficult to visit, but the beauty of having a week aboard the MV Cuma is that our skipper Murdo can choose the best weather to give us the best chance of making it out to the remote island archipelago.
There are limited places on this expedition so please get in touch soon to secure your place.
20th – 23rd September 2019 - SwimWild Highland Gathering
The famous Highland Wild Swim Gathering is back, but this time with a SwimWild twist! This is fun weekend of wild swimming in the beautiful Cairngorms National Park, held in the grounds of Inshriach House, a couple of miles south of Aviemore. This is NOT a guided swim holiday, it is more like a mini wild swimming festival, with amazing swimming, a hot tub and sauna by the river, film screenings, great food, a party at a gin distillery, and a chance to meet like minded swimmers from all over the UK. There are various accommodations including camping, glamping and a limited number of rooms in the main house.
Looking forward to seeing you in the water in 2019!
